Southern Pecan Pie - cobra2


1 cup of sugar

1/2 corn syrup

1/4 cup butter, or 1/4 of a stick of butter (real butter, not the fake stuff)

3 eggs

1 cup chopped pecans

1 tsp vanilla flavor

pre-made pie shell without the top. (for lazy people like myself)


Pre-heat oven to 350F

Melt the butter in a microwave or on the stove then remove from heat and allow to cool for about 5 mins. Combine the eggs, corn syrup and vanilla flavor in a bowl. Mix this together very well. Then add the butter and pecans and stir well. The tricky part here is that if the butter is too hot it will cook the eggs right now. This will result in a bad pie. Let the mixture sit and settle for 5 mins. Pour mixture into waiting pie shell.

Bake for 40-45 mins. You know the pie is done when the top is crisp and toasted and the pie is firm to the touch.
